It is our belief that it is in a business owner's best interest and it is our practice to encourage them to utilize an outsourced payroll service provider. Payroll laws, taxes and compliance are complicated and ever-changing. The penalties for doing it wrong are severe and expensive. Therefore, we rarely support in-house payroll services.
We do provide Outsourced Coordination:
Service provider selection assistance
Service provider set-up coordination
General ledger download or manual entry of after-the-fact payroll activity
Client education regarding general payroll practices
Monitoring of payroll activities and assistance when discrepancies or disputes arise between the company and the payroll service provider
Workers compensation annual policy audit assistance
Mandated employer signage acquisition
Guidance in determining proper employee or sub-contractor classification
Sub-contractors are a legitimate work force but it is your burden to make sure you have classified your "workers" correctly. Many times business owners state they use only sub-contractors because they don't want to deal with the added expense and paperwork of employees. Don't make your determination on ease of efforts but rather on the proper classification.
